KCR to be powered by Wegner Motorsports
Eddyville, Ky. - When Mark Green stomps on the accelerator for Keith Coleman
Racing, the horsepower will be provided by Wegner Motorsports. The team announced
a partnership with the veteran engine builder today.
Wegner Motorsports has been in racing for 30 years. The team employees more
than 50 people at two different locations and has won a number of engine builder
championships at several levels.
The team cited Wegner’s history of performance as a main reason for
the selection.
“Carl Wegner (owner) has a proven track record,” said Ruben
Houser, team manager. “He has won in the past and has the latest technology
in addition to his own engine design program.”
“He is in business to race, not in the racing business,” added
Green. “He is a grass roots racer with a world of experience. That
gives me confidence because I know he is going to do whatever it takes to
give us a motor that will run well at the track.”
Located in Markesan, Wis., Wegner Motorsports has supplied engines for
the NASCAR Busch Series for the past 10 years. Three full-time and two part-time
Busch Series teams are powered by Wegner this year and the manufacturer also
supplies engines for the Craftsman Truck Series, ARCA and several other series.
Wegner said he was excited about the new partnership with KCR.
“We like working with new teams,” Wegner said. “They are a
little more willing to listen to our suggestions and it gives us the chance to
grow together.”
